Top-seeded Irvine Valley defeats Cabrillo, 4-1, Grossmont, 5-0, and was up, 2-1, on Golden West when it clinched the overall CCCAA Women's Sand Volleyball State Championship on Friday at IVC. The Lasers also won the indoor volleyball title last fall.
The inaugural California Community College Athletic Association Women's Sand Volleyball State Championships are taking place this Friday and Saturday at Irvine Valley. The team event is Friday with the individuals going Saturday.
The Lasers defeat both Fullerton and Mira Costa, 5-0, in a regional on Tuesday at IVC. Irvine Valley moves on to the four-team State Championship team event on Friday at Irvine Valley.

The Orange Coast College sand volleyball team improved to 3-0 for the season after earning a pair of wins against Rio Hondo and Palomar on Friday afternoon.
Irvine Valley beats NAIA Concordia University, 5-0, but falls to NCAA Division 1 University of Arizona in a match on Tuesday at home. IVC will play at an event at Cal State Bakersfield this Saturday.
Irvine Valley improves its record to 2-2 overall on the season after losing to Long Beach State and Florida State last week, with 5-0 victories over both Fullerton and Cabrillo at home on Saturday.

Taking the sand for the first time as a California Community College Athletic Association sanctioned sport, the Dons sand volleyball team picked up a pair of 3-2 wins over Cypress College and Riverside City College.
