#14 LA Harbor Knocks Off SCC
Santiago Canyon College hosted LA Harbor College in tonight’s game.
Santiago Canyon College hosted LA Harbor College in tonight's game. The Hawks were looking to build some momentum going into conference play in a couple of weeks. The 7-1 Seahawks did not oblige. LA Harbor played tough throughout the game and SCC couldn't manage to get the victory in a close game throughout. The final score was 77-72. With the loss, the Hawks drop to 6-4 on the season, while LA Harbor improves to 8-1.
In the first half of the game, both teams battled back and forth with neither building a lead of double digits. The score was tied 7 times and there were 4 lead changes. Damien Parker and Aaron Wadman both scored 10 points in the half. Parker had two 3-pointers. Kai Smith also chipped in with 9 points. The Hawks only shot 4 for 15 from the three point line, but were still able to tie the score at 34 at halftime.
The second half was similar as both teams fought for control of the game with neither managing it. LA Harbor had a late spurt and made some clutch free throws down the stretch to pull out the win, 77-72. For Santiago Canyon, Smith and Wadman led the way in scoring with 19 points apiece. Parker finished with 12 points to round out the double digit scorers. Wadman finished with a team high 9 rebounds, while Parker paced the Hawks with 5 assists. SCC's 72 points were their lowest scoring output of the season.
Santiago Canyon will travel to San Diego to play Palomar College in their next game. Palomar is currently 8-3 on the season. The Hawks have had one of the toughest schedules in the state and are looking to get it rolling as they will start conference play on Tuesday, December 20th with a home game vs. Saddleback College.
