RCC Scores Victory over Host SCC

Santiago Canyon College hosted Riverside City College on Wednesday Night in a battle for 2nd place in conference play. The Tigers came away with the victory in a game that saw 17 lead changes and 10 ties. It was a closely contested game throughout. The first half was high paced and both teams scored in transition. The Hawks had a 1-point advantage at intermission with the score 42-41. Aaron Wadman led SCC with 10 points in the first half and Kai Smith added 9 points. Isaiah Arthurton came off the bench to spark the team with 8 points.
The second half was similar to the first as both teams made runs and took brief leads. The Hawks were up by 6 with four minutes to play, but RCC came right back and made a solid run to take a two possession lead and SCC couldn't get the lead back. The Tigers ended up winning the game 87-81. Wadman finished with a game-high 33 points, while Smith and Arthurton both scored 12 points.
SCC will finish up this week's game play hosting Santa Ana College on Friday Night at 6:00pm. The Hawks are looking to get back in the thick of the playoff race with a victory. There are 5 teams battling for second place in the conference, which makes each night a battle. The Hawks are currently ranked 15th in the state according to the Massey Ratings, but still need to finish strong to secure a playoff berth.
