Vikings Dominate in Straight-Sets Victory Over Irvine Valley
Men's volleyball sweeps Irvine Valley College 3-0.
Long Beach City College men's volleyball put on a commanding performance, sweeping Irvine Valley in three sets (25-23, 25-17, 25-19) to even their record at 4-4 on the season.
Setter Willy Wang orchestrated the offense, dishing out 33 assists while adding four kills and three service aces. Sebastian Kim led the way with an efficient 11 kills on a .500 hitting percentage, while Sergio Garcia and Alden Jacobs each contributed 10 kills to power the Vikings' attack.
"We played really well today, all this week we worked on consistency," said Wang. "I think we demonstrated consistency this game, we are excited for the rest of the season."
Defensively, Garcia was a force with 11 digs and two solo blocks, while Kim and Jacobs added a block assist each. Kody Castellon anchored the back row with seven digs, helping to keep Long Beach in control throughout the match.
"That win felt nice," said Head Coach Josh Nehls. "We have been trying to get a rhythm and today we were really gelling out there, so it was a good win."
The Vikings will be back in action on Thursday, February 27 at Moorpark College at 6 p.m.
