Hawks Take Down Tigers
The Santiago Canyon College Softball Team defeated Riverside City College 10-0 in 5 innings on Friday to improve to 2-1 in the Orange Empire Conference. The win improves their overall record to 11-2. Hailey Guillen picked up the win for the Hawks in the circle holding the Tigers offense hitless. She was relieved by Stella Turner, the pair combined for a 1-hit shutout.
Lindsey Marschall was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate for SCC with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored. Jade Costa (1-for-1) and Alyssa Yslas (2-for-2) drove in 2 runs each. Samantha Villanueva (2-for-4) and Liliana Navarro (2-for-4) both also contributed doubles for the Hawks.
The Hawks defense was flawless for the day, bringing their team fielding percentage to .984 which leads all teams in the state.
SCC will continue with conference action next week. On Wednesday the Hawks will host Orange Coast College at 3pm and the travel to Saddleback College for a 2pm game on Friday.
