Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
Mission Statement
The mission of the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is to enhance the student-athlete experience by promoting leadership, community engagement, and a unified voice within the conference. SAAC serves as an advocate for student-athlete well-being, academic success, and the continuous improvement of the student-athlete experience in intercollegiate athletics.
Purpose
The purpose of the OEC SAAC is to serve as a vehicle for addressing and discussing concerns and issues that student-athletes face within the conference. The committee represents all students who participate in intercollegiate athletics and serves as a platform for dialogue between student-athletes and conference administrators.
Additionally, SAAC will promote and celebrate student-athlete achievements, fostering a culture of excellence both in competition and in the classroom.
Functions of SAAC
- Serve as a liaison between student-athletes of OEC member institutions and conference administrators.
- Represent the collective concerns of student-athletes while discussing issues that impact student-athlete well-being.
- Provide input on conference policies, procedures, and initiatives.
- Advocate for academic success, leadership development, and community involvement.
- Assist in the promotion and execution of OEC championship events and postseason contests.
Committee Members Structure
- The SAAC shall be comprised of one student-athlete representative from each OEC institution.
Rotating Representation:
- Even-numbered years (based on the fall academic year):
- Cypress College, Fullerton College, Irvine Valley College, and Santiago Canyon College shall have a male representative.
- Saddleback College, Orange Coast College, Riverside City College, Golden West College, and Santa Ana College shall have a female representative.
- Odd-numbered years:

Meetings & Structure
- The committee shall meet a minimum of twice per year (once each semester) at a member institution.
- The SAAC President must attend all OEC meetings to represent the committee.
- Executive Board: The SAAC executive board shall consist of a President, Vice President, and Secretary, appointed by the conference office.
Voting Structure
- A quorum of six out of nine voting members is required to conduct committee business.
- Each institutional representative shall have one vote.
- A simple majority of the individuals present is required to pass a motion or proposal.
