Women’s Volleyball Pushes Fullerton to Four Sets
After dropping the opening two sets on Wednesday night, the Santiago Canyon College women's volleyball team began to string some solid runs together. They came out with a third-set win, but ultimately fell in the ensuing set en route to a 3-1 defeat.
In the third set, the Hawks found themselves down by six points. They soared back into the contest and took a three-point lead eventually ending in a 25-22 score in their favor. However, they simmered down after allowing an eight-point lead in the fourth set to slip away.
Depite the loss, multiple career-high marks were set. Freshman setter Makena Bugarin lofted up a career-high 35 assists to go along with six digs and a pair of service aces. Freshman Gabrielle Hanfield had her best game this season leading to three kills, three service aces and nine digs.
Freshman Chelsea Riedel was the main offensive weapon as she recorded a team-high 23 kills on 63 attempts. She recorded 28 digs as well. Freshman Sarah Violett followed with four kills while chipping in 14 digs and two service aces.
Sophomore Nicole Rodrigues tallied seven kills while notching 11 digs.
