Kylie Redmond - Cypress
Cypress College's Kylie Redmond is being recognized for the Orange Empire Conference's Student Athlete Spotlight.
It’s all in the Family for Cypress Sophomore Midfielder Kylie Redmond.
“My Mom played so it kinda just made sense to make me play too,” says Redmond who started playing the game at the age of five. Now, 14 years later, she finds herself as a starting midfielder for the Women’s Soccer Team at Cypress College.
Just six games into the season, Redmond is one of two Charger players who lead the team with one goal and two assists. With the majority of their conference schedule ahead of them she says, “We have a lot of potential and we work hard together. Hopefully we can make playoffs and win a state championship.”
As a sophomore, and with her time at Cypress ending after this season, she is looking to play at the next level and is willing to consider any offers that come her way, “I do want to play at the next level wherever that is.”
Aside from excelling as an athlete on the field, Kylie also excels in the classroom at Cypress College where she currently carries a 3.74 GPA. This is nothing new for Redmond who was also honored as a Scholar Athlete when she attended Santiago High School in Corona, CA.
Off the field Kylie enjoys watching movies and baseball. She names Angels Pitcher C.J. Wilson as her favorite athlete. One of her favorite moments at Cypress came when the entire team had the opportunity to meet soccer great Brandi Chastain, “that was a really inspiring experience,” she commented.
After she finishes with school and soccer she plans on pursuing a career as a nurse.
