Riverside Dominates OEC Opener

The Riverside City College women's swim team was dominant at the opening Orange Empire Conference meet of the season at Golden West College on Friday in Huntington Beach.  The Tigers left the rest of the field in their wake, totaling 837.5 points for the day.

Riverside won eight different events, winning the 200 Freestyle Relay to start the day (1:42.11).  Other winners for the Tigers included; Hannah Cain in the 200 Individual Medley (2:24.57) and 200 Backstroke (2:17.54), Nicole Tormey in the 50 Freestyle (25.26), 200 Freestyle (2:00.43) and 100 Freestyle (54.83), Maria Roldan in the 1,650 Freestyle (19:48.98), and Amelia Bennett in the 200 Fly (2:23.19).

Programs from the Orange Empire Conference will meet again on March 27 at Riverside City College.

Orange Empire Conference programs have won six state titles since 2010 and 24 titles since 1984.  Orange Coast leads the state with 19 total championships, including a win last season.
