Cats Set New Program Record

Cats Set New Program Record

The Saddleback women's soccer team defeated Santa Ana College, 8-0, on Tuesday inside the stadium.  With the win, the Bobcats set a new program record for consecutive wins in a season.

Saddleback had it on cruise control from the beginning and ran its record to 14-0-1 with its 11th shutout of the season.  The Bobcats received a hat trick from Chloe Green, who now has 23 goals for the year.

Saddleback scored the first goal of the game in the 3rd minute when Summer Hackett blasted in a ball into the twine for her second goal of the season.  Green then got into the action in the 10th minute when she took a long pass from Alyssa Sims and headed it past the Santa Ana keeper for a 2-0 lead.  The Bobcats would add one more goal in the opening half as Mazey Kasberg took a pass from Alexa Livingstone and scored in the 16th minute.

Avalon Valousky scored her first goal of the season in the 52nd minute off a pass from Alexis Wright as the lead ballooned to 4-0.  Green then scored consecutive goals in the 53rd and 62nd minutes as the Bobcats put the game out of reach.  Chloe Campagne and Camill Wilson added late goals for the final count of 8-0.

Saddleback set a new program record as it recorded its eighth straight win, breaking the old record of seven set in 2022, 2021 and 2003.  The program did record 13 straight wins at one point, winning the last seven games of the 2022 campaign and the first six of the 2023 season.

Saddleback will play again on Friday when it hosts Golden West College.  The Bobcats and Rustlers are scheduled to start at 3:00 PM inside the stadium.

GAME NOTE:  Saddleback ran its unbeaten streak to 22 games on Tuesday.  The last time the Bobcats lost was on November 4 of last season.
