Goals in each half, from Santiago Canyon College freshmen duo Jasmine Ferman and Camryn Toole, settled an intriguing contest between two committed teams.

The game ebbed and flowed early on as both teams took time to adjust to the intensity of the action. The Hawks had threatened from set-pieces but didn't really test the visiting keeper until Toole hit a cross-shot that was well saved. Ferman opened the scoring around the half-hour mark with a turn and shot from the edge of the area to put the home team a goal up. Ferman nearly doubled her tally minutes later volleying wide after a good move down the right-hand side. The score remainied 1-0 at the break.

SCC pressed on in the second period, and Summer Stewart had a fine shot tipped over the bar, Despite their pressure, SCC couldn't find the second goal. The Wolverines were gritty in defense and a threat on the counter with pace across their front-line. As the game reached it's last 15 minutes the Hawks backline of Paige Winters, Jackie Alba-Diaz (pictured), Kylee Medlin, and Emily Baro held strong. Zaydee Solis in goal had barely had a save to make, but look beaten from a header following a Wolverine right-wing cross, only to see Medlin head the ball off the line.

The Hawks looked comfortable for the remainder of the contest, with Summer Stewart breaking the last line of defense to square for Toole to wrap-up the contest.

Thanks to all the Hawks and Wolverine fans who attended the game today. It's great to be back.
