Gauchos Secure Share of OEC Women's Golf Title

Saddleback College secured at least a share of the Orange Empire Conference title this season by winning the conference match hosted by Irvine Valley College on the Tustin Ranch Golf Course.

The Gauchos posted a team score of 346 - their worst team score of the season - but the competition struggled on the longer Tustin Ranch tract and Saddleback ended up posting a 38-stroke victory over runner-up Mt. San Antonio (384) for it's largest margin of victory on the year.  Fullerton was third at 408.

Saddleback sophomore Brittney Do (pictured) earned a share of medalist honors on the day with Eunsoo Jeon of Fullerton at 5-over-par 77.  Do was the Orange Empire Conference MVP last season while Jeon finished third in conference scoring a year ago.  The two are battling it out again this season, with Irvine Valley's Katie Stribling also in the mix.  Stribling posted an 83 on Monday at Tustin Ranch.

Sunhae Son carded an 86 for the Gauchos, which was her highest score of the season, but only four players in the field were able to break 90.  Saddleback teammate Tomoko Kim came in with a 90 to help Saddleback win the match and pick up four more victories.  The Gauchos earned at least a share of this year's conference title after winning titles outright in 2016 and 2017.

All conference teams will play in the final OEC match on Monday at Industry Hills (Babe course) before concluding the regular season with a two-day, 36-hole championship being held at the Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills on Wednesday, October 24, and Wednesday, October 31.
