Competitve Season Nets Women's Basketball All-Conference Selections
Locking down a three-peat OEC winning season, the Orange Coast College Pirates laid claim to the conference MVP in Alyssa Dreessen. An all-around player, Dreessen was last season's Defensive Player of the Year. This season, she is 8th in the OEC scoring 13.2 ppg. Dreessen tops the conference averaging 2 blocks a game, 8.5 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 1.3 assists per game.
The honor of Offensive Player of the Year went to Santa Ana College's Anaya Beard, who averaged 16.3 points a game, 9.1 rebounds, and 1.3 steals.
Earning Defensive Player of the Year, Christaesha Jackson of Cypress averaged 10.1 rebounds, 1,3 assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.9 blocks a game.
Cypress College Coach Brittany Imaku was named as the OEC Coach of the Year after a strong run in the OEC finishing in second (9-3 OEC, 20-8 overall) just one game behind first-place Orange Coast College. This is the first COY award for third-year Head Coach Imaku, who had been a state champion point guard and then assistant coach under longtime Coach Margaret Mohr for six seasons.
