Fullerton Completes Undefeated OEC Season, All-OEC Awards Announced

The Fullerton College Hornets took home the 2024 Orange Empire Conference Softball Championship after an undefeated 21-0 season.

The Hornets made their mark, becoming the first team (Cypress) since 2017 to go undefeated in OEC play. 

In addition, Fullerton saw the majority of postseason awards go their way as Jordan Elias was voted OEC Most Valuable Player while her teammates Macy Brandl and Allyson Fuentes were named Co-Most Valuable Pitchers of the Year.

Elias led the conference in several categories including batting average (.507), on base percentage (.551), runs (26) and hits (36). 

Brandl was virtually untouchable in OEC play as she finished with 11 wins, a 1.11 earned run average, 80 strikeouts and six shutouts. And Fuentes was just as effective as the sophomore recorded 10 wins to go with a 1.29 ERA, 51 strikeouts and two shutouts. 

Fullerton's coaching staff led by Crystal Aguirre and Marian "Speedy" Mendoza was also recognized and voted the Coaching Staff of the Year.

The only award that did not go to a Hornet was the Defensive Player of the Year award, which was claimed by Santiago Canyon's catcher Raneem Kerdiya. The sophomore had a .935 fielding percentage in OEC play with 73 putouts and 13 assists.
