The Saddleback men's tennis team opened the season with a 7-2 at San Diego City College on Tuesday in San Diego. The Gauchos were dominant on the back end of the roster in the win.
Saddleback won 5-of-6 singles matches in closing out San Diego City. The Gauchos were completely dominant at the back end, with Chad Henry, Oliver Ludwig and Chris Torcasowinning by wide margins.
Saddleback took a 2-1 lead in doubles play, with Henry and Ludwig sweeping past the dup of Jonathan Velasquez and Derek Covington, 8-0. They also received a comfortable win from the No. 2 doubles team of Chris Torcaso and Tyler Bloom, who raced past Rafa Maniego and Shane Griffin, 8-2.
Henry (pictured left) then turned around and beat Velasquez 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles while Ludwig (pictured right) scored a 6-0, 6-3 win over Covington at No. 6 singles. Torcaso and Bloom were also two-time winners on the day.
Saddleback will play again on Thursday when they host Santa Barbara City College. Match time is scheduled for 2:00 PM on the Saddleback Courts.
