The Orange Empire Conference men's golf schedule opened on Monday (March 2) with the Coastal Division taking to the links at the Navy Course.

Playing on its home course, Cypress College posted a five-man team score of 362 to capture the six-team event as sophomore Panos Patazopoulos came into the clubhouse with a 4-under-par 69 to earn individual medalist honors.  Teammate Luke Bartram posted a 1-under-par 72 while Matt Wotherspoon finished at even-par 73.  Charger teammates Devin Schaffer and Juan Quisoboni each posted 74's.

The Chargers edged past Irvine Valley College (368) while Riverside (384), Orange Coast (388) and Saddleback (391) were battling it out for third place.  Connor O'Brien and Dustin Vasquez each shot 72's for the Lasers while Caleb Humble carded a 74 and teammates Kellen Kudrna and Cooper Knight each came in at 75. 

Riverside's Yarzar Aung posted an even-par 73 to pace the Tigers.  Lucas Renner (74) was the low scorer for Orange Coast while Saddeback sophomore Chase Bosanko also posted a 74.  El Camino's Dylan Marschall tied for individual runner-up honors with his 1-under-par 72, but the Warriors were not able to have five players finish the course and ended up without a team score.

The six Coastal Division teams will play their next conference match on Monday, March 9, when El Camino College hosts at the Los Verdes golf course in Rancho Palos Verdes.
