GCC Women's Basketball improves to 6-2 with 54-35 win over Irvine Valley Dec. 8
In a matchup of two of the top-ranked teams in the state and Southern California, the GCC Women's Basketball took an early lead and made it standup in a 54-35 win over visiting Irvine Valley College Dec. 8 in the Verdugo Gym Now 6-2, the Lady Vaqs came into the game ranked No.11 in the state and No. 5 in So. Cal. IVC was No. 9 in the state and No. 6 in Southern California.
 
GCC led 13-10 after the first quarter and 26-17 at the half and increased that advantage to 39-25 after three quarters as IVC struggled with shooting woes throughout the game. Osanna Tieityan led the Lady Vaqs with 14 points and added seven rebounds. Evelyn Birau had 12 points and five boards and Patil Yaacoubian had 10 points off the bench. Paola Gorgeiz had a game-high 10 rebounds and four blocked shots.
 
Glendale has the week off from game play and competes next in its annual holiday cross-over event Dec. 21-22.
