The men's soccer program honored sophomores Andrew Marentes, Rickey Walker, Hudson Dare, and Dylan Koenig prior to the final home match of the season. The Hawks hosted the Cypress College Chargers but were defeated 1-0.
The Hawks' defense held strong in the first half, with freshman goalkeeper Diego Saldivar making three key saves. The defensive line, including Walker and freshmen Tenzin Wangdu and Shane Valdez, played a crucial role in keeping the Chargers off the scoreboard.
Cypress broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute with a goal just inside the box, a far-post strike that was out of Saldivar's reach. Despite a few late chances, the Hawks were unable to find the equalizer, resulting in the 1-0 loss.
The Hawks, who have scored only two goals in their last eight games, will face Orange Coast in their final conference match on Friday. They enter the contest having lost 15 of their last 16 matches.
The Hawks registered six shots in the loss, with freshman Braydon Cerminelli accounting for four of them. Cerminelli came closest to scoring with a shot late in the second half, but it drifted just left of the far post.
Saldivar (2-14-2) recorded eight saves on nine shots faced.
