Bobcats hold off Rustlers

The Saddleback men's soccer team defeated Golden West College, 1-0, on Friday in Huntington Beach.  The Bobcats are now tied for fourth place in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC).

Saddleback was looking for a better finish against Golden West after letting a win slip away last month and having to settle for a tie.  The Bobcats got their wish, clinging to a 1-0 victory on Friday.

Saddleback scored the lone goal of the game in the 25th minute when Sepand Soutehkashan (pictured) scored his seventh goal of the season off a pass from Andrew Jun.  The Bobcats then held their ground in the defensive end to pull out an important win.

Saddleback started the day at No. 23 in the power points in the southern half of the state, with only 16 programs qualifying for the playoffs next month.  The win moved the Bobcats to 21st in the power points with four games remaining during the regular season.

Saddleback is now 7-5-3 overall and 4-4-2 in OEC play.  The Bobcats now play the top-ranked team in the state on Tuesday when they host Fullerton College.  Saddleback and Fullerton are scheduled to start at 1:00 PM inside the stadium.  A win or tie would likely move the Bobcats up a handful of spots in the power points.
