For the first-time since 2018, Santiago Canyon College Women's Soccer top the Orange Empire Conference to win the league title today with a 7-0 victory over the visiting Santa Ana Dons.
Inclement weather conditions meant the game was moved to the lower field as a result of a waterlogged pitch on the game field. Following extensive efforts by the SCC field crew, the playing surface did not play a factor, as the Hawks dominated proceedings from the kick-off against a resilient Santa Ana team. Two strikes from Nikki Marino put the Hawks on the board, and then Cassie Lewis followed in to grab a third goal before the break. Megan Llopis struck hard and low across the keeper for the fourth goal. Frida Vizcarra headed the fifth, before Aubrey Bryant set the overlapping Delilah Ferman up to center for Vizcarra's second goal of the day and the Hawks sixth. Kristen Smick rounded out the scoring before the Heavens opened just before the final whistle. Savanna Prado in goal made one fine save in collecting the shut-out.
The Hawks play-out the final game of league at Cypress College on Thursday, November 10th at 3pm.
Thanks go out to all those who braved the storm to be with us today.
