GAME TWO COLLEEN RILEY CROSSOVER: HORNETS FLY PAST SAN DIEGO CITY

The FC Sting Squad broke out big Friday night against visiting San Diego City College winning game two of the Colleen Riley Holiday Crossover 62-41.

Riding a three-game win streak, Fullerton improves its overall record to 6-5, while San Diego City drops to 8-4.

The first quarter did not go as planned for the FC coaching staff as the team fell behind early 9-2 on a three-pointer by Ilianna Maldonado. The Hornets worked their way back into the fold by the end of the quarter thanks to a deep three-point shot by Kaylee Shimoda as time expired.

Fullerton took its first lead of the game in the second quarter (21-20 at 4:15) when Xochitl Hood drove into the key for a successful layin. Both teams continued to battle it out for the rest of the quarter with FC getting the upper hand 26-25 by the half.

The Hornets broke out in the third quarter with an offensive wave that changed in the game in their favor. Up 30-27 at 3:50 Jasmine Arnold's deep three energized the squad swinging the momentum of the game for good. She went on to score 7 of her 13 points in the quarter. 

Riding the momentum, the fourth quarter belonged to FC as the team took its largest lead of 26 (62-36) at the 2-minute mark when Katelyn Glumace scored on a jumper in the key. Up big, the Hornets burned the remaining time off the clock for the victory.

Xochitl Hood had another outstanding outing with a game-high 22 points, with 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals, and 3 blocks. Kaylee Shimoda and Jasmine Arnold both chipped in with 13 points. Shimoda added 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals, while Arnold had 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals.
