
Chargers Take Down Cerro Coso, Advance to Second Round of 3C2A Playoffs
Chargers Dominate at Home to Secure Playoff Victory
CYPRESS, CA – In front of an electrified home crowd, the No. 10 seed Cypress Chargers secured an 82-73 victory over No. 23 Cerro Coso in the first round of the 3C2A SoCal Regionals on Wednesday night. This marks the first home playoff game for the Chargers since 1993, and they made the most of it, punching their ticket to the second round. Cypress will now hit the road to face Moorpark College on Saturday, March 1.
The Chargers stormed out of the gate, setting the tone early. Peyton Guerrero fired up the crowd with a tough fadeaway buzzer-beater, extending Cypress' lead to double digits. James Christian III kept the energy high, converting a crucial four-point play, while Michael Wright delivered a dagger three-pointer from the top of the key to help seal the win.
Cypress dominated at the free-throw line and capitalized on their depth, outscoring Cerro Coso's bench 28-7. Vincent Albertini led the second unit with an 18-point, 7-rebound performance, while Christian III was a force all night, finishing with a team-high 20 points. Wright added 17 points, and Guerrero chipped in 11.
UP NEXT: With this win, the Chargers continue their postseason journey, setting up a second-round showdown at Moorpark College. Tip-off is set for Saturday at 7:00 PM.
