The Irvine Valley men's basketball team never gave in Saturday in the consolation final of the Monterey Bay Classic.
The Lasers trailed by 14 points at the half, but rallied for a 86-81 win over Foothill College.
Freshman shooting guard Yanis Aldeguer led IVC with 24 points.
He made all seven of his three-pointers. He went 7 of 8 from the field and 7 of 7 from three-point range.
And freshman forward Matt Mowers was named as an all-tournament player after finishing with nine points, three rebounds and two assists.
Aldeguer gave Irvine Valley its first lead of the game at 57-56 with two free thows with 11:11 remaining.
Two free throws by Mowers with 3:55 left in the game gave IVC a 76-67 lead to take over for good.
Mowers scored 19 points and had five rebounds in Irvine Valley's 80-66 win over Hartnell in the second round on Friday and he scored 14 points and finished with six rebounds in IVC's first-game loss to Sierra, 56-54, on Thursday afternoon.
On Saturday against Foothill, sophomore guard Ammon Allan finished with 15 points, four rebounds and five assists.
Freshman guard Jackson Jennings had a big game with 14 points and three steals and sophomore forward Josiah Reed had 10 points and eight rebounds for the Lasers.
Irvine Valley plays again on Friday, taking on Mt. SAC at home at 5 p.m.
