SANTA ANA, Calif. - On Tuesday, the SAC Dons Men's Soccer team battled a tough 90 minutes against the No. 14 ranked Fullerton Hornets. The Dons ultimately came up short, losing 2-0 on the Santa Ana College field.
When the 45th minute whistle blew the Dons and Hornets shared a total of five shots, with none getting past the goalkeepers on either team. SAC saw shots on goal from: Miguel Gonzalez (2), Ivan Torres, Angel Magdaleno, and Denzel Estrada.
The second half is when SAC battled and came up short. Six minutes in, the Hornets found the back of the net. SAC goalie, Nicolas Max Guerrero, continued to hold them to one goal allowed for the next 40 minutes until the Hornets were able to take a 2-0 lead in the 86th minute.
Battles on the field were emphasized with a total of three yellow cards given to the Dons. Head coach, Jose Vazquez, received his first yellow card of the season defending his players on the pitch.
The Dons will continue their conference play on Friday, 10/18 at Saddleback College with the starting whistle blown at 3:00 PM.
