HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – The Golden West College Rustlers continued their strong season with a commanding 9-0 victory over the Glendale College Vaqueros on Tuesday, February 25. Behind a dominant pitching performance from Desyree Arizmendi and an explosive first two innings at the plate, the Rustlers improved to 10-2 on the season.

Golden West wasted no time setting the tone, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Reggi Frei crushed a two-run inside the park home run, bringing in Abbie Rainwater to give the Rustlers an early lead. Shortly after, Lola Weber crossed home plate on a single by Candice DeMayo, and Isabella Santiago added an RBI single to cap off the inning with a 4-0 advantage.

The Rustlers kept the momentum going in the second inning with five more runs. Desyree Arizmendi helped her own cause with an RBI double to score Weber. Allyssa DeMayo followed with a run-scoring double, and Candice DeMayo delivered another RBI single. The scoring barrage continued when Mya Santiago reached on an error that allowed another run to cross the plate. Isabella Santiago drove in the final run of the inning with a single, extending the lead to 9-0.

Desyree Arizmendi was nearly untouchable in the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout while allowing just one hit and striking out 11 Glendale batters over five innings. She faced just 17 hitters and allowed only one walk, keeping the Vaqueros' offense silent throughout the game.

The Rustlers played flawless defense, committing zero errors while capitalizing on two Glendale miscues. Offensively, Golden West collected 10 hits, with Isabella Santiago and Candice DeMayo each recording two RBIs. Frei's inside the park home run was the highlight of the game, showcasing her speed around the bases.
