LOS ANGELES- The Los Angeles City College men's soccer team suffered their second loss of the season on a hot Tuesday afternoon against Irvine Valley College. It was 90 degrees Fahrenheit when the game kicked off at 3pm. A defensive error allowed Irvine Valley's Ivan Lopez to beat goalkeeper Luis Villegas early in the game. The Cubs reaction did not take long when Axel Miranda's through pass broke Irvine Valley's defense and found Ryan Medina all alone in the box to tie the game. LACC went on the offensive but it was an Irvine counterattack that exposed the Cub's back line when Ivan Lopez scored his second goal of the match. During the second half, a bad pass by an Irvine defender was picked up by Felipe Alvarez, whose shot went past the keeper to put things level. Goalkeeper Luis Villegas was substituted by Jair Villegas(no relation) who made an incredible save late in the game. Unfortunately for the Cubs, a superbly struck free kick at the last minute gave Irvine the win. It was a heartbreaking loss but this LACC team is showing progress and their two losses have been by the narrowest margin.
