Pirates blow past rival Rustlers

HUNTINGTON BEACH -- The Orange Coast College men's volleyball team did not mess around on Wednesday night and quickly swept past rival Golden West in three sets inside the GWC Gym.

Will Anderson had 10 kills and four aces to lead the Pirates to a 25-19, 25-14, 25-17 Orange Empire Conference win over the Rustlers. 

Sam Warren added eight kills and two aces, while Zach Weston added seven hills and five blocks.

Serving was strong for the Pirates (10-1, 1-0 in the OEC) as they dropped 14 aces on the Rustlers (0-5, 0-1). 

Tyler Vedder anchored the defense with 12 digs, while Josh Friedman led the OCC setters with 21 assists.

OCC will return to action on Friday at Irvine Valley, beginning at 6 p.m. Fans are required to wear masks inside the IVC gym at all times.
