The Irvine Valley men's soccer team is still in the race for a 3C2A playoff berth.
The Lasers went on the road and defeated Orange Coast, 3-1, on Tuesday in an Orange Empire contest.
IVC moved its record to 8-11-1 overall and 6-6-1 in conference.
Orange Coast went to 4-12-4 overall and 2-8-3 in the OEC.
The Lasers took control of the contest early and continued throughout.
Irvine Valley out-shot Orange Coast, 23-3, in the match.
Freshman midfielder Luke Newman led the way with seven shots, including two on goal for IVC.
The Lasers got on the board late in the first half. Sophomore forward Marcio Costa scored off of an assist from Newman in the 37th minute.
Newman finished with three assists on the day.
Irvine Valley advanced its lead to 2-0 early in the second half. Freshman forward Mason Tracey scored in the 51st minute off of another assist from Newman.
And Tracey made it a 3-0 advantage for IVC in the 60th minute with another goal.
Orange Coast pulled a goal back with a score by Gabriel Garcia in the 68th minute.
IVC's defense was able to do the rest.
Laser freshman goalie Rolando Hernandez ended the day having to make just one save in 90 minutes.
Irvine Valley closes out the regular season on Friday with a conference game at Golden West at 3 p.m.
