9 INNING TUSSLE WITH FALCONS
The FC softball squad had non-conference battle at home with Cerritos College on Saturday and fell 3-2 to the Falcons in nine innings.
The loss marks the third straight for the Hornets with a 2-4 overall record, Cerritos continues its undefeated streak at 6-0.
Cerritos scored the first run of the game in the third inning when Vicky Najera knocked a single to left field plating Amarie Encarnacion. The Falcons went up 2-0 in the top of the sixth thanks to a solo shot that sailed over the left field fence by Briana Zarate.
Fullerton made its move in the bottom of the sixth on Veronica Moore's double to left center that scored Jasmin Campos. Hope Morales followed up with a game-tying double to right center scoring Moore.
With the score knotted up at 2-2, Marley Cortez came in clutch in the ninth rocking a double to right field that allowed Ayiana Cardenas to cross home plate. Mia Star Miramontes closed the game out for the Falcons to earn the win.
Up Next: The Hornets (2-4 overall) travel to El Camino College on Friday, February 7th for another non-conference game. The first pitch goes out at 2:00 pm.
