
The Ventura College baseball team couldn't gain any traction Saturday, dropping an 8-2 decision at Fullerton College. TJ Foreman has a pair of hits for the Pirates (0-2) wile Jacob Harris was 1-2 with a run scored and a run batted in. Brian Guy was 1-3 at the plate and scored the Pirates other run.
After yielding a run in the bottom of the first, Harris tied things up with a solo home run to lead off the second inning.
Those would be the only fireworks the VC line-up could must on this day, as the Hornets plated two runs in the second and single scores in the third and fourth innings. They scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to break the game open.
Gabe Baldovino tripled with two outs in the fourth, but was left stranded, and Foreman had a two out single, followed by a stolen base in the fifth. Brian Guy walked and stole a base in the ninth, eventually coming around to score to set the final 8-2 margin.
Jacob Martinez picked up the loss on the hill for Ventura.
VC returns for their home opener on Tuesday an. 29 against Victor Valley. The game is slated to begin at 2:00 pm at Pirate Park.
