The third time was a charm for the Rams of San Francisco, who beat Fullerton College in the 3C2A Men's State Championship 75-58 on Sunday afternoon at Mt. San Antonio College.
The Hornets had defeated San Francisco winning their last two state titles in 2019 and 2023. Despite the loss on Sunday, Fullerton had an outstanding 30-win season, which had only been done 8 times in program history that began in 2016 (1953-54, 1960-61, 1968-69, 1971-72, 2005-06, 2018-19, 2022-23, and 2024-25). It was also the tenth time in the program's history that Fullerton played in the title game for all the marbles. Under head coach Perry Webster, it was the fourth time playing in the championship in nine seasons.
It was another showdown between the No. 1 team from the north and the No. 1 team from the south as Fullerton scored the first two points of the game on a nice move to the bucket by Joe Grahovac. The well dried up quick for FC as the Rams spun off a 13-0 run. The Hornets had a tough time hitting shots in the first half going 0-6 from beyond the three-point line and were 7 for 27 (25.9%) shooting. Meanwhile, San Francisco took advantage hitting a couple of timely three-pointers that gave the team a 32-23 halftime lead.
With plenty of fight left, Fullerton pulled within five of the Rams thanks to Jaqari Miles' three-pointer in the 16th minute (37-32). Unfortunately, it was the only one made in the game as CCSF used its full-court press to its advantage gaining a 50-34 lead by the 11th minute. The Rams pushed on with their biggest lead of the game (22 points) with roughly two minutes left in regulation. From there, San Francisco burned out the clock earning its 6th state title and fifth under Justin Labagh.
San Francisco now leads the pack with 6 state titles overall, while Fullerton, Cerritos, Fresno City, Long Beach City all have 5.
FC's Jaqari Miles led all scorers in the game with 23 points and had 5 rebounds. Joe Grahovac put up 15 points and Darvelle Wyatt scored 7 with 6 rebounds.
