Citrus Competes at OCC Tournament

Last Friday, September 13th and Saturday, September 14th the Citrus College Women's Water Polo Team traveled to Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa for the OCC Tournament. 

The Owls played two games each day and started with a Friday morning game against Riverside City College. The Owls played a close game up until the 4th quarter when the Tigers pulled away winning the game 12-4. Citrus got goals from Kori Cunningham, Ryan Price and Maryeon Reedy in the loss. 

Game two of the day came against in an afternoon matchup against the hosting Orange Coast College Pirates. Similarly to their first game of the day, the Owls battled hard but fell 2-9 when OCC scored five unanswered goals in the 4th quarter. 

Citrus College returned to action at the OCC tournament on Saturday as they started their day off with an 8:00 a.m. game against Saddleback College. The Owls kept the game close but their four goals in the 3rd quarter were not enough to hold off the Bobcats as they fell 8-12. Citrus got goals from Kori Cunningham, Trinity Hulet and Maryeon Reedy. Kori Cunningham earned four exclusions drawn and added four steals. Goalie Natalie Abril recorded seven saves. 

The fourth and final game of the weekend came against Santa Barbara City College which was another tightly contested game and although they did not get the victory, the Owls saw improvements in the 9-6 loss. Kori Cunningham stood out with two goals, one assist, three steals and three exclusions drawn. Gabi Terry added one goal, one steal and three exclusions drawn. 

The Owls are headed to the Riverside City College Tournament this week on Friday, September 20th, and Saturday September 21st as they compete in five games with hopes of adding wins to their record.
