SANTA ANA, Calif. - The Santa Ana Men's Basketball team fell short of a late comeback as they dropped one to Moorpark (8-4) by a score of 84-74 in Wednesday's non-conference contest.
The Dons (3-7) saw themselves down 13 at the half after the Raiders went on an 11-0 run to start the game.
But following a few adjustments to their press break at the half and making some open three pointers, Santa Ana found themselves on top as they took the lead (65-64) after Kody Uyesugi nailed a three with 9:04 remaining.
The teams battled back and forth until Moorpark managed to create separation in the final four minutes. MC finished the game on a 10-2 run, giving SAC their second consecutive loss.
Miles Sulka had himself a game as the sophomore came off the bench to score a team high 21 points on 9-of-16 shooting. He also added three rebounds, three steals and a couple assists.
Freshman forward Kelvonte Ellis recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds while Thomas Billinger was the next highest scorer with nine points on 4-of-9 shooting to go with four boards.
The Dons will be back in action on Friday when they take on No. 14 LA Harbor at 5:00 p.m.
