The Hornets hosted Irvine Valley College for Friday Night Futbol on Sherbeck Field and took out the Lasers 2-1 thanks to two late goals.
It has been a very good Orange Empire Conference rivalry between Fullerton and Irvine Valley the last couple of years, and the Hornets did not let up after falling behind 1-0 in the 84th minute of Friday night's match. A late penalty kick by Luke Newman from 11 yards out put IVC on top 1-0 late in the game.
Pressed for time, the Hornets answered the call scoring a goal to tie it up with 1:19 left on the clock. After a handball call, Max Ron was able to kick the ball into the net from 12 yards out.
With seconds left on the clock, Fullerton's Andrew Arreola took a long toss-in from Nathan Giles and punched in a line-drive-shot from 35 yards to win the match in dramatic fashion.
FC goalie Steven Martinez was solid in the box with 3 saves in 90 minutes.
Up Next: The Hornets (7-3-2 overall, 3-0-1 OEC) will travel to Santa Ana College this Tuesday, October 15th for another OEC match. Game time is at 3:00 pm.
