Beach Volleyball: Roadrunners split matches at Golden West

The Rio Hondo College women's beach volleyball team came up with a split on Friday in Huntington Beach as the Roadrunners beat El Camino College 3-2 but was edged 3-2 by host Golden West.

The victory over El Camino improved the Roadrunners' South Coast Conference record to 2-3 while Rio Hondo moved to 7-9 overall after both matches.

The No. 3 duo of Michell Chavez-Valdivia and Natalie Magallon was the lone Roadrunner squad to win both its matches on the day.

In the El Camino match, Rio Hondo was able to win in three sets at No. 1, 2, and 3 to secure the victory. But against Golden West, a narrow three-set loss at No. 5 proved to be the match-winner for the Rusters.
