SOFTBALL: SCORING RUNS CAN BE FUN
In a critical Orange Empire Conference match-up, the Hornet offense decided to wake up at Riverside City College on Wednesday scoring in every inning enforcing the mercy rule on the Tigers 11-2.
Fullerton (8-12 overall, 3-6 OEC) scored single runs in each of the first four innings before exploding for seven runs in the top of the fifth for a much needed win over Riverside City (9-8 overall, 4-4 OEC).
FC's Anabel Mendez went 3-4 with 2 runs scored and a RBI to lead the Hornets. Jill Saiza knocked a three-run triple in the fifth for Fullerton.
FC winning pitcher Natasha Trujillo (5-3) came into the game with no outs and two Tigers aboard in the bottom of the first, and tossed 5 innings of one-run softball. She allowed only 4 hits, with no walks, and had 3 strikeouts for the win.
Up Next: Fullerton (8-12, 3-6) will look to pick up another conference win this Friday when they host Golden West College.
