FC FALLS TO MESA

After winning the first set, the Hornets dropped the next three (3-1) against visiting San Diego Mesa College Wednesday night.

Last Friday, FC lost to another San Diego squad in Miramar 3-1. Every set was a hard-fought battle, but unfortunately the Hornets were not able to get past the Jets on the road falling 25-23, 25-23, 22-25, 25-22. Andrew Ramos was the Fullerton's kill leader with 10. He also added 7 digs. Billy Veng had 9 kills, Connor Stoebe knocked down 6, and Demin Young also added 6 kills. Nathan Cheav contributed 41 assists.

Wednesday night's match began well enough with a 23-25 win, however the next three sets belonged to San Diego Mesa 25-17, 25-16, and 26-24. The last and final set was a battle as the Hornets still had plenty of fight left. Down 18-11, FC ripped off a 10-3 run tying the game up 21-21. The two teams pushed one another to a 24-24 tie, until the Olympians took the match winning the next two points.

Billy Veng brought down 11 kills, Connor Stoebe had 8, and Marcus Blewett contributed 5 kills on the night. Nathan Cheav had 37 kills, while Albert Razo had 8 digs. Alex Guastella had 7 digs and Andrew Ramos dug up 6.  

Up Next: Fullerton (3-7 overall) travels down south to Grossmont College this Friday, March 3rd. Match time is at 6:00 pm.
