Tigers Come Up Just Short Against Knights
For the second day in a row, Riverside City College got its bats hot but came up just short in a 7-5 loss to San Diego City College.
The Tigers slip to 0-2 on the year, while the Knights improve to 2-4.
RCC finished with 10 hits, with Jocelyn Uglesich, Jessica Gaitan, and Grace Rogers each knocking two in the game. Carissa O'Neil, Jocelyn Romero, Isabella Ramirez and Angelina Sanchez also had hits for the Tigers.
Riverside took an early 2-0 lead after Rogers drilled a two-RBI double in the bottom of the first.
SD City plated a run in the top of the third, but RCC answered back with two more in the bottom half of the inning to keep its lead. Uglesich sacrificed a fly ball to score one runner before Gaitan doubled to right field to put her team up 4-1.
The Knights battled back and scored one run in the fourth, four in the fifth and another in the sixth to jump in front 7-4.
Still, the Tigers kept fighting and Sanchez found a gap in right-center to send Ramirez home from first in the bottom of the sixth.
With pressure on, RCC put runners on in the bottom of the seventh but couldn't send them home to finalize the 7-5 result.
The Tigers hit the road for the first time this season, heading to Bakersfield College for a pair of games. RCC first takes on Fresno City at 2 p.m. before facing the Renegades right after.
