The Saddleback softball team improved to 3-0 with a 9-3 victory over Mt. San Jacinto College on Monday afternoon at the Saddleback Softball complex.  Sophomore Macy Smith was credited with the first home run inside the new venue.

Saddleback fell behind early as Mt. San Jacinto came out swinging in taking a 2-0 lead, scoring once in the first inning and once again in the top half of the third inning.  The Bobcats wasted no time in responding, scoring seven runs in the bottom half of the third inning in taking a 7-2 lead.  Saddleback had eight straight hits to start the inning, chasing the starting pitcher from Mt. San Jacinto from the game.

Mikayla Mendoza led off the inning with a double to center field to start the rally.  Saddleback tied the game at 2-2 with Cristen Areopagita singled home McKenzie Lombard with the third of eight straight hits.  Ka'ui Garcia then put the Bobcats ahead with a double to left field and the Cats were off and running.  In total, Saddleback sent 11 batters to the plate in blowing open the game.

Saddleback then saw history inside the new digs when Smith pounded a ball over the left field wall to give the Bobcats an 8-2 lead.  It was Smith's first home of the year and the first home run inside the new stadium.  Smith would finish 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs-scored.

Saddleback started Alexa Pfutzenreuter on the mound and she pitched a complete game in winning her second game of the season.  Pfutzenreuter finished with two strikeouts in the game.
