Chargers Fight Hard in Orange Empire Championships
Chargers struggle going 0-2 against Fullerton and Golden West in OEC Championships
CYPRESS, CA - The Cypress College Chargers battled hard in the Orange Empire Championships over the weekend, ultimately going 0-2 after close losses to Fullerton and Golden West.
On Thursday, the Chargers came out strong against Fullerton, jumping to a 2-0 lead in the first period. However, Fullerton responded with a 5-1 run, shifting momentum as they entered halftime. Despite the Chargers' resilience, they fell short, ending the game with a 9-7 loss. Hayley Bradshaw led Cypress with three goals, while Marilyn Rodriguez added two.
Saturday's game against Golden West saw another strong start for Cypress, who led 9-6 by the third period. Jillian Van Gemert and Karly Lepel each contributed four goals, keeping the Chargers competitive. Unfortunately, Golden West rallied back, and Cypress fell 14-11 in another hard-fought match.
