Pirates score early, often in rout over Hornets

COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College men's water polo team wrapped up the regular season with a 26-2 Orange Empire Conference win over a shorthanded Fullerton College squad on Wednesday at the OCC Aquatics Pavilion.

In a contest that was decided before the opening quarter came to a conclusion, the Pirates (12-10, 3-2) found the back of the net early and often. Leading the way for the OCC offense was Dane Howell and Ethan Rose, who each tossed in five goals. Jackson Bryson added four goals and three assists, while Grant Busta added three goals and three assists.

The Pirates scored on their first 10 trips down the pool and opened the quarter with an 11-0 lead, never looking back.

OCC will return to action on Saturday at Chapman University (1 p.m.) before opening Orange Empire Conference Tournament action on Friday, Nov. 4 at Riverside City College.
