Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Fullerton in Three Sets
The Santiago Canyon College women's volleyball team traveled to Fullerton on Wednesday night, aiming to complete a season sweep of the Fullerton College Hornets in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) action. The Hawks accomplished their goal with a dominant three-set victory, relying on a mix of familiar contributors.
Sophomore Chelsea Riedel led the charge, delivering another standout performance. She posted 10 kills on 18 swings to power the offense. Riedel also contributed 11 digs and a service ace in the win.
Sophomore Sophie Ziglinski and freshman Riley Bingel both added four kills apiece. Ziglinski also registered a pair of digs and a service ace, while Bingel made an impact at the net with a solo block and a service ace.
At the helm of the offense was setter Peyton Speakman, another reliable sophomore. She tallied 17 assists, extending her streak to 17 consecutive matches with 15 or more assists. Speakman also led the team in digs with 15.
Freshman Jayden Sessom anchored the backline with nine digs, while sophomore Ashlyn Smith contributed seven digs and two kills.
