The No. 8 seeded Hornets pulled off a late goal to get past No. 9 LA City College 1-0 in Round 2 of the 3C2A Southern California Regional playoffs.
It was a wet night with a light rain that produced slippery playing conditions, but Fullerton rose to the occasion scoring a goal in the 79th minute on a shot by Cesar Marquez, who took the assists from Yovanni Sanchez and Kyle Sherman.
The Hornets controlled the ball keeping it on LA City College's end of the field a majority of the match. The Cubs had a few chances to score, but strong defense by FC kept LACC in check. Goalie Steven Martinez stepped up in the end holding the Hornet's 1-0 lead with 2 crucial saves.
Up Next: No. 8 Fullerton (15-3-5 overall) advances to Round 3 of the SoCal Regionals. FC will play this Tuesday, November 26th when they travel down the road to No. 1 Long Beach City College. Match time is at 2:00 pm. Click here to view the bracket.
