No. 9 Men’s Basketball Hits Triple Digits in Rout Over Orange Coast
Five players scored in double digits for the No. 9 Santiago Canyon College men's basketball team on Wednesday night as they cruised to a dominant 106-82 victory over the last-place Orange Coast College Pirates in conference action. With this win, the Hawks secured their 20th victory of the season as they continue their quest for a conference title.
The offensive performance was led by four starters and one reserve, with freshman Efe Gucoglu leading the charge. In just 20 minutes off the bench, he scored a career-high 22 points, including a sizzling 5-for-6 shooting mark from beyond the arc. This is the third time this season Gucoglu has hit the 20-point mark.
Sophomore Tony Colley contributed across the board, securing a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Freshman EJ Bryson added 20 points, five rebounds, and two assists, while sophomore Trevor Manning came close to a triple-double. Manning finished with 17 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and three steals.
Freshman Colin Weems orchestrated the offense, contributing 15 points—his best output since the team's win over Saddleback in late January. He narrowly missed a double-double, finishing with seven rebounds and eight assists.
As a team, the Hawks shot 52.1 percent from the floor, including a perfect 50 percent from three-point range. They dominated the boards, outrebounding the Pirates 59-32, and capitalized on Orange Coast's 14 turnovers, scoring 23 points off those miscues.
