Women's basketball wins one of two at Glendale Crossover

The Irvine Valley women's basketball team went 1-1 in the Glendale Crossover last weekend.

The Lasers started with an important 74-47 win over Allan Hancock College on Friday.

Stars of the game for IVC were sophomore guard Moka Saiki, freshman wing Alexis Price and freshman forward Gianna DeForest.

Each player scored in double figures.

Saiki had one of her best games at IVC. She finished with 25 points on 10 of 19 shooting from the field and made 5 of 10 three-pointers.

Price chipped in 12 points and three rebounds and DeForest added 11 points on 5 of 7 shooting from the field.

Overall, the Lasers shot 53.4 percent (31 of 58) from the field as a team. Ten different players scored for Irvine Valley.

IVC played Glendale for the second time this year and fell, 71-38, on Saturday.

Glendale jumped out to a 20-8 lead after the first quarter and led, 37-21, at the half.

IVC's record went to 6-7 overall.

The Lasers received seven points each from freshman wing Samantha Barnett and Saiki in the defeat.

Barnett and Saiki both also had four rebounds.

Irvine Valley turns around and plays in the Ventura Crossover Dec. 27-28.
