It was a familiar, but not wanted, ending to the 2018 women's soccer season for the Rio Hondo College Roadrunners. For the second straight year, Rio Hondo suffered a 1-0 loss to Santiago Canyon College in the second round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs.
No. 2-seeded Santiago Canyon got an early goal from Ofelia Sosa in the seventh minute which proved to be the game-winner. Rio Hondo, the No. 7 seed for the playoffs, ended the year with a 12-4-5 overall record.
The Roadrunners made their fifth straight playoff appearance under head coach Jennifer Tanaka-Hoshijo after finishing in second place in the South Coast Conference North Division standings with a 4-2-2 record.
