Bobcats zap the Hornets

The Saddleback women's soccer team ran its winning streak to six straight with a 5-3 win over Fullerton College on Friday inside the Saddleback Stadium.  The Bobcats had a 5-1 lead before taking their foot off the gas pedal.

Saddleback scored five times in the opening half in cruising past Fullerton on Friday.  The Bobcats dominated the first 45 minutes before emptying out the bench in the second half.

Kylie Beu opened the scoring with her fifth goal of the season in the eighth minute off a pass from Christina Santoyo.  The Bobcats extended the lead to 2-0 in the 20th minute when Emma Radzai had an unassisted goal.

Fullerton scored a goal in the 29th minute to cut the lead to 2-1.  The Bobcats quickly responded with three straight goals to put the game out of reach.  Abby Grabowski scored her fourth goal in the last five games after Alyssa Sims rattled a shot off the left goal post and Grabowski rammed home the rebound.  Sims (pictured) wasn't finished, scoring a goal of her own in the 39th minute off a corner kick from Zoe ChungChloe Green then put the icing on the cake when she took a Rylie Laisy pass and beat the Fullerton keeper for a 5-1 lead in the 44th minute.

Saddleback made wholesale changes to the lineup in the second half, playing as many as 25 players in the game.  Fullerton got a couple of goals in the finals minutes, one of which came off a penalty kick after the Bobcats were whistled for a handball inside the box.

Saddleback is now 9-1-1 overall and 4-0 in Orange Empire Conference play.  The Bobcats are tied with Santiago Canyon College for first place in the standings.  The two teams will meet on Tuesday at Santiago Canyon with first place on the line.  Game time is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
