SAN LUIS OBISPO -- The Orange Coast College baseball team shrugged off a disappointing loss on Thursday and returned to the win column with a come-from-behind 6-5 win over Cuesta College on Friday.
Jayden Lyburtus slugged the Pirates (3-2) back from a 4-0 deficit by going 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI. Zach Dickason added three hits and an RBI, while Ethan Brand went 2-for-5 with two runs scored.
While the offense chipped away at the deficit, relief pitcher Lyndon Glidewell (1-0) held the Cougars scoreless over the late innings on just two hits with three strikeouts over 2 1/3 innings.
Lyburtus's second HR came in the eighth inning and put the Pirates up for good. Reliever Dimond Loosli allowed a solo home run in the ninth but preserved the lead in the ninth to collect his first save.
Coast will wrap up this three-game series with the Cougars on Saturday, beginning at 12 p.m.
