The MSJC men's basketball team jumped out to an early lead on Saturday afternoon and then held on down the stretch to earn a non-conference home win over Cypress.
The Eagles took a commanding early lead as they jumped on Cypress from the start and led by 10 points at the half 42-32. Despite having numerous double digit leads during the game, Cypress pushed back to make the game close over the final 10 minutes, and even tied it up with 1:31 left play. A huge three point basket from Dasean Stevens with under a minute to play turned out to be the difference in the 74-73 win.
Stevens finished with a team high 25 points as he connected on 4 of 7 three point shots, he also grabbed a team high 8 rebounds. Cameron Durr came off the bench to add 18 as he had a very efficient offensive day going 7 of 11 from the field including 4 of 5 from long range. BJ Brown also reached double figures with 12 points.
The win pushed the Eagle win streak to four as they improved to 4-1 on the season. MSJC will be back in action on Tuesday as they host LA Pierce at 7 pm in their final game before Thanksgiving.
