Volleyball Sweeps LA Harbor, Snaps Two-Match Skid
The Santiago Canyon College women's volleyball team hit its bye week in conference play, but continued action against the Los Angeles Harbor College Seahawks. The Hawks dominated from start to finish by completing a match sweep with set scores reading 25-22, 25-18, 25-14.
Leading the charge was sophomore Chelsea Riedel who finished with 23 kills on 29 attempts to equal a .586 hitting percentage. She was money on the service line leading to four aces and dug deep for five digs.
Sophomore Sophie ZIglinski backed her with eight kills on 11 attempts for a .545 hitting percentage, while sophomore Ashlyn Smith hammered home five kills and led the team with eight digs. Freshman Riley Bingel recorded a pair of kills and five digs, while frrshman Jayden Sessom had seven digs.
Running the offense was sophomore Peyton Speakman who lofted by 27 assists and chipped in seven digs. She has now recorded 20 or more assists in six-consecutive matches; four of which only traveled three sets.
